Last year the Wolves singer, Selena Gomez underwent the kidney transplant operation due to the failure of her kidneys. It was like a miracle that her best friend Francia Raisa helped her by giving her kidney.
Selena was just close to death if she had nobody to help her in that situation. The 29 years old donor of the organ has reported on the condition of Selena’s kidney transplant.
Raisa has finally opened up about the severe health conditions of the singer. Selena was very near to death during the process took place. In an interview with W magazine, Francia Raisa revealed that Selena ‘could have’ died at that time.
Francia recalled the whole situation. She said, “Selena’s Recovery was hard. I did not want to eat; I did not want to drink anything. Selena had a complication. A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said. “I am terrified.”
Francia further added, “My kidney was very active, and when it turned I broke an artery. They had to take Selena into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place. She could have died.”
It was a difficult situation to survive in for both of us. In October last year, Selena revealed that one of her kidneys has flipped inside her body which resulted in more six hours surgery. If we talk about the average kidney transplant, then we will find that it takes only two hours for the whole procedure.
Francia said, “She went to go get tests, and she came home one day, and she was serious. We all have our moments, so I just let her do her thing, I did not ask any questions. She was asking me about my day, and then she grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and tried to open the water bottle, but she could not do it. She threw it on the floor, and then suddenly she fell to the floor and started crying. I was like, ‘What is wrong with you? I need a new kidney. I do not know what I am going to do; the waitlist is seven to 10 years.”
Francia continued, “And it just came out of me, and I said, ‘I will get tested.’ I called up her assistant behind her back to get the information, and that is how the process started.”
Francia Raisa also recalled another painful moment by saying, “There was so much pain there.” It was Selena’s decision when to reveal about the kidney transplant to the media and people. Francia especially asked her for the time when to show the truth. She also admitted, “We did not want to tell anybody because recovery was very hard for us, and we both went through depression at that time. We kind of just wanted to be normal and not have the whole attention on us.”
Raisa added, “I left it up to Selena. I have never had anything personal come out about me before. I have dated very famous people, and no one knows because I am very private. I was like, “Did you have to be famous?”‘
Now Selena has recovered from the stitches entirely, and we are talking each day as it comes. Francia continued, “2018 I am just enjoying. The show is a hit. My health is good. I have a new home, and I have an adorable new boyfriend that I met on set. I also went back to dance class for the first time last week. Now I am more motivated and inspired than ever.”
The situation was very terrifying. When doctors told Selena that she needed a new kidney and if one she didn’t get it then she may likely die. Also, Selena ended up developing arthritis and doctors underwent the profound diagnosis.
